Columbus, MT 59019
Phone : 406-322-5520

Special K Ranch provides family oriented Christian homes, on a working ranch, for adults who have developmental disabilities.

The ranch is located on 230 acres 8 miles east of Columbus between the frontage road and the Yellowstone River.

There are 31 residents living in seven separate family homes (4 per house) with a married couple who serve as home and vocational advisors.

Several cognitively challenged people from surrounding communities take part in the daily vocational program.

We have completed our new home of long-term living for 8 of our older residents.

There are 24 full-time employees and several part time relief workers.

In the 20 greenhouses on the property the residents and staff grow contracted bedding plants that are sold throughout Montana.

Tomatoes are grown in two of the houses February through October and sold to grocery stores, restaurants, and farmers markets with other vegetables and melons grown at the ranch.

The staff and residents also lamb 180 ewes and raise calves for ranch use and sale. Visitors are always welcome.

The Reed Point Community Club, Inc. was formed many years ago. Our major fund raisers include the annual Great Montana Sheet Drive and feeding the participants of the annual Yellowstone River Boat Float. Over the years we have raised thousands of dollars which have been used for many projects in our community. Our latest venture is the community park on the corner of Old Highway 10 and Division Street here in Reed Point. We are attempting to convert the old railroad depot, which we had moved to the property, into a community center. Another of our favorite projects that just keeps on giving is the Christmas Decorations that are placed on every power pole in town for the community and visitors to enjoy throughout the holiday season. We have helped the local volunteer fire department, the school, the town library and many of the different organizations at the school.

All donations are welcomed. We are a registered 501(c)3 tax exempt community service organization.

Absarokee, MT 59001
Phone : 406-328-7123

Absarokee is without any form of government as the town is not incorporated. The Civic Club fills that void by addressing problems and concerns presented by its citizens. The annual fundraiser for the Civic Club is the Stillwater Run which is held the first Saturday in October. By working with various departments, the Civic Club helped put in sidewalks, and provided snow removal on those sidewalks, participated in Earth Day to clean up the town, helps with the upkeep of Hawkins Park, and other activities to help make Absarokee a better place to live.
